A league built like a league
Most online tournaments are brackets that end in a weekend. We built the Dominance League as a real league: one hundred players divided into ten-man groups, a round-robin regular season, standings and play-offs. More than 450 matches later, it stood among the largest league-format esports tournaments of its time.
The format was the point: a regular season creates storylines, rivalries and reasons to come back every week, which is something a single-elimination bracket can never do.
Distribution through the players
Instead of betting everything on one official broadcast, we armed the players. Every participant received a stream-ready kit: branding, overlays, resources and a setup guide that made going live take minutes, not hours.
The result was more than 25 players streaming the competition simultaneously on their own channels. The league's audience was the sum of a hundred communities, not the reach of a single channel.
From community hype to sponsors
The attention the group stage generated brought Monster Energy and OhMyGame on board to sponsor the play-offs, staged live at OhMyGame Valencia with the finals casted from the venue.
That arc is the lesson we bring to brands: a competition designed to create its own distribution earns sponsorship, rather than needing to buy attention from day one.
